This was bought for my daughter to use with her nice new iPad Pro which now comes without a headphone jack. I’ve got a bit of experience with this kind of dongle and there are some really shonky ones out there. You tend to get what you pay for. This one give excellent sound with no distortion for a regular dedicated adapter, and allows for unimpeded charging at the same time. Very happy with this purchase. Compared to Apples own adapter, this is more stylish and less likely to break after six months.
UGREEN have, so far, not let me down, and are my manufacturer of choice for this kind of product. They are a chinese company in Shenzhen who regularly get high ratings on amazon for quality/cost/reliability. This is therefore a review of the maker as well as the adapter.
Because of Apples retrograde decision to remove a vital port for high level headphones – or if your wireless headphones run out of power – you will need this kind of add-on to be able to charge your iphone/ipad at the same time. It’s a bit of a first world problem, but important if you are a university student who is relying on a simple bit of kit for almost everything.

This might be fine for the odd use as it can come in handy, but wearing overhead stereo headphones and listening carefully i noticed the right ear was out of balance with the left, making music podcasts and phone calls out of sync with each ear.
And then when i plugged it into my car a loud screeching came from the aux as the rev’s went up. To go along with this terrible sound the hissing that came with it made it unbearable to listen too for more than 2 minutes.
For almost 20 pounds i expected more, have returned and would not recommend to anyone.

I don’t want to be too harsh here as I’ve no idea if it is a good product at what it does or not.
I’ve tried it in my Google Pixel 5 & 6 phones and while I can hear output well enough with 3.5mm wired headphones attached. The adaptor will not charge either phone, either with or without the wired headphones attached (& to be fair, without the headphones attached it is superfluous anyway: why would you want a USB C to USB C adaptor to charge the USB C phone socket?)
This isn’t the first of these dual USB C charge & 3.5mm jack adaptors and the other ones didn’t work either so it would clearly seem to be something Google do phone wise that the adaptor doesn’t like or can’t interface properly while pulling sound out and pushing power in simultaneously.
Straight 3.5mm to USB C single adapter cable works absolutely fine for playing music through wired phones too.
Like I say, not to badmouth the product but just a word of warning to Pixel phone users.

Having read the reviews I nearly did not purchase this product. Happy I did. I use it with Samsung wired ear buds and a Samsung tablet that has no socket for them and they work as designed to with good quality sound and no hiss whether I am charging the device or not. Looks like a high quality product that should last too,

UPDATE: this device has stopped working after just 2 weeks.
Bought this item so I could listen to music in the car. (Via aux) while charging. Firstly the device is very small, which for my use case is perfect! However, It is very hit or miss whether it gets registered by my phone. Sometimes it’ll register the charger but not the headphones other times it’ll register the headphones but not tge charge. And sometimes nothing registers at all.
The device will also draw power from the phone if the phobe doesnt detect the charging. An also it activates the phones messges saying Display Port isn’t supported which gets annoying when it’s not even a display device.
Once it does finally get recognised correctly, the sound quality is as good if not better than what you’d get from a built in headphone jack. All in all, for me, the product is adequate for what I use it for. For other (newer) devices some of the issues I had may not be a problem. But if I needed it replacing, I’d probably try a different one.
