Product does what it describes it’d do. Both audio and mic are working fine. My headset has 2 separate jacks; audio and mic. I understand why some people say the mic isn’t working because I ran into the same problem until I did a quick search and found a solution which involved simply changing my mic setting.
Check your computer’s mic settings and make sure the correct input device is selected. Your computer may be using the wrong source for the mic. For my laptop, the option is the same as the mic built into my laptop.
If that doesn’t work, you might wanna check if your mic is a TRS (double ring) jack. Just look at your jack and count the rings. In the product description, it says only compatible with TRS jacks but not a TS (single ring) or a TRRS (triple ring) jack.
If you have the TRS jack, make sure when you insert the jack that it clicks in. If it’s in properly, it’ll feel tight and snug when trying to twist it.
Otherwise, idk why it doesn’t work for you. Maybe you got a defect, but this works as it’s intended to, given you have the compatible jacks.

I bought a mic with tssr connector; mic comes with tsr to tssr adaptor. So I connected this splitter to MacBook, then a mic with adaptor and got nothing from the mic. The sound was coming from the internal mic. Later I discovered that it makes a difference in what order you connect splitter and mic to the laptop. Correct order: connect: tsr to tssr adaptor to the splitter (if you need this for your mic), connect mic to the adaptor; now connect splitter to the MacBook (mic should be connected to the splitter before you connect splitter to the laptop). After that I had no issue to use headphones connected to splitter and mic connected to splitter for a conference call. Note: you cannot hear live what comes through mic in the headphones – as usual for any headset I tried before.
