     We caught a thief in the action. We were able to have a crystal clear video and the police department was able to track her down in less than 30 min and recover our items!

    The police immediately knew who she was with these great quality images.

    I highly recommend all ring products and am so thankful we got one.

    BUY ONE NOW!

     I asked for this as a Christmas gift. My husband said, we live in the country, nobody bothers us, yeah right.
    I was able to file a police report and send them this video. The clarity is spot on for me. I received notification that a person was detected, logged on to the device at work, shared the video with 5 minutes.
    Well worth the money I think, the battery life is good as well.

    My son wanted one as a present which we bought for him , I asked him if he was happy with it and he showed me a live shot outside his front door, I was impressed so I bought one for ourselves. Easy to install very impressed. My wife suggested we buy 2 more as presents for our other son and daughter .

    This hardwired unit is fairly easy to install and set up using my original doorbell, and so far (31 days) it appears to work well. The picture day or night is clear and crisp, although slightly distorted (like a “fish-eye lens”) only because I had to use an angle-mount kit bought separately. I also spent the $1.99 to buy the installation kit sold separately, which has better tools than come with the Ring doorbell plus doorbell wire extensions if needed – I highly recommend this kit (but be sure to get the correct one.)

    The only negatives thus far, which I wasn’t aware of when I bought this system, are:
    1) there is almost a 10-second lag between when just motion is detected and when the notification appears on my smartphone (even when I’m at home sitting by my wifi, but it’s almost instantaneous when the doorbell is rung);
    2) that when the 30-day free trial of video storage ends, so do all videos if you don’t subscribe to Ring for $39.99 a year. If you don’t subscribe, all you have starting the 31st day are notifications and “live view” with no video recording whatsoever. I was somehow under the impression that selected videos could remain on my smartphone and I had to subscribe only if I wanted to store some or all of them with Ring, but that is not the case: it’s purely “no pay, no videos” after the 30th day; and,
    3) this system has one bit of quirkiness – a phantom doorbell: about once a week or so, initially usually in the middle of the night between 1:30a – 4:00a, my doorbell will ring one time but Ring never activates or captures any movement or shows any activity having transpired, and even if I go to a live display within just a few seconds there’s never anyone or anything there. I don’t know if this is caused by dropping outside air temperatures or something else, but it is a bit of a nuisance that I now see other users have mentioned as well (and some have said the frequency of occurrence increases over time – I guess I’ll find out.)

    The above notwithstanding, overall I’d likely recommend this system to others.

    Fantastic doorbell with a battery which lasts well and is easy to recharge. The camera resolution is great and the zoom lens works well. As a security device it is excellent as I can see and communicate with anyone who enters my property when I’m traveling the other side of the globe. The monthly fee for history recording is well worth it.

    Love using the Ring Doorbell! This one is a great starter one but the only downside is that you have to pay a monthly fee in order to review footage 🙁
    Still great to use to check up on things and guests arriving!

    Great product. Clear real time wide angle video. Motion filming and notifications work. Be aware you have to pay a monthly subscription about the cost of a cup of Starbucks coffee each month or a yearly fee for a cheaper price to allow you to save videos. This is important if need the video to report a crime. You get the first month for free. Still I would buy this product again. Install tip drill shank wide holes in your Hardy Plank to prevent cracking and/or stripping of the durable mount screws. Put them in by hand. If they’re too tight your pilot holes are too small in the Hardy Plank. UPDATE 4/9/2021 Be AWARE! you will NOT be able to use any function including live stream if you don’t subscribe to a monthly or yearly plan. In other words the Rind will notify you of motion but you will have to go to the door to see who it is. No video will be accessible. I was Just forced to subscribe in order to see video feed after my trial period ended. This detail is not made very clear. I was under the impression you wouldn’t be able to save video events but not that the camera would be disabled if you do not subscribe. Very sleezy!!!
