It’s pretty expensive for a doorbell only. All the other services, you’ll have to subscribe and get billed monthly. You can’t even watch your own camera recording for motion etc. without subscribing to be billed. I’ve bought other cameras that do that for free.

I made the mistake of purchasing the camera, chimer and solar charger all a week apart. The solar charger is a must if you are disabled unscrewing the little screws is a major job.
Mounting once is a great idea, spend a little now and the benefits are great.

Sadly does not work. It drains the battery not charge it up. Very disappointing

I bought this as I’m tired of having to remove the doorbell to charge it. Bought this and mounted it on my south facing wall that has direct sun most of the day. The battery just continues to decrease. Having looked online forums since to find a fix, it appears there’s hundreds of people saying the same. The general thought is that it’s a scam from Ring, as they have been told repeatedly there’s issues with them yet they won’t help. DO NOT BUY.

Purchased this to replace the original ring doorbell my parents had. Their old one used to last about 60 days.
Purchased Ring 2 and “solar charger”. It’s not really a charger at all, it’s just an expensive piece of plastic.
The doorbell is on a north facing wall, (currently it’s summer), getting 5 to 6 hours of direct sun light per day.
The doorbell is down to 75% after 2 weeks of use. At this rate it’ll get exactly the same life out of a battery as its older (non solar) predecessor.
You’re better off putting $75 into the pokies.

Solar chargers, generally charge during daylight hours. This thing doesn’t. I’ve watched my doorbel battery drain each day via the app. What a useless waste of money, time and effort. Now my UPVC door is left with the installation holes in it that aren’t covered by the original camera. Feel both cheated and stupid for buying such a thing

I fitted the standard camera which meant having to charge every month which I found extremely fiddly due to limited use of my hands and fingers. I was concerned that there would be insufficient light to charge the camera but after starting at 63% the camera is now after approximately two months 74% and that’s during the winter with many cloudy days.

Don’t bother buying, it doesn’t work with the bell it advertises!
