I really like this mat, I opted for the pebble black colour which looks smart on my desk and gives a false impression that I’m really organised now that my desk is tidy 🙂 The one criticism I have of the product is it slides about a bit on my desk during normal use but this is easily remedied by a little double sided tape underneath. Overall very smart looking and I can use my apple brand Magic Mouse on it without any issues. Weirdly it feels like it drags ever so slightly when the weather is humid.

When I first bought this mat I was quite impressed. It’s very well presented and clearly very stylish. It certainly looks the part. It’s also the absolute perfect size for my desk. So far so good.
But then the problems started to crop up. Maybe a month later the edges started to fray, and peel. To be clear, this is from simple daily use. It’s not being rubbed or caught on anything. Just sitting at a desk, using a computer. Around the same time a faint dark mark started to appear under the mouse. After months of use the area under the mouse is now notably discoloured. I have had no luck in any of my attempts to clean this area of the mat over the months I’ve used it.
The rest of the mat has held up well over the past year or so. No other marks or damage. So durability is reasonable with the exception of the edge.

It’s hard to beat at the price point and the Alaskan Grey is a warm grey – more towards mink which is brown. It does looks premium. The two things that I would comment on are grip and the surface texture. I have a Vitsoe desk which I’m using this on and it is a laminate top but not dissimilar in finish to a waxed oak desk that I have. It slides pretty easily on both so I wish it had more grip so it wouldn’t move about. Over time, it could be its undoing.
The other point is the texture of the surface. It’s fine, looks good but texturally isn’t quite as smooth as a mouse pad surface so you feel more resistance moving the mouse on it. I’m using an Apple Magic Mouse and I feel a lot more resistance than the mouse mat that I have at the moment. I’m not sure what long term durability of the surface will be like with continued use but this isn’t a factor with a touch pad or some of the ergonomic mouse peripherals.
Scout –
After rinsing through mouse mats I thought I’d treat myself to a desk mat!
I must admit this looks and feels awesome and compliments my setup very nicely, mouse movement and response is brilliant.
And to clean all you need is a damp cloth and it comes back like new.
Instructions are simple, get it out the box and gently roll it in the opposite direction, I did have an issue where the ends weren’t fully flat, but I weighted it down over night with the keyboard on one side and keyboard rest on the other and it’d now fully flat (I guess this is just down to the packing technique)
While the price is expensive compared to others I think it’s a fair price, after all its not something you buy often!
Overall I love it and wished I done this sooner!

I bought the cork base, and overall it’s good – product came as described. However I would prefer if the cork base didn’t move on the desk so easily. That’s the only critique I have of this product. 3.9/5.

It’s a light mat but the ‘suede-like’ backing keeps it in place. I’ve had to buff part of the surface a bit with furniture polish so that my optical mouse moves with less resistance. Only real negative is that the stitching finish where it starts and finishes, is a bit prickly and can’t be trimmed further. Annoyingly it is where my left arm rests. If you don’t mind the right corner logo being reversed, you could rotate the mat to avoid this.

This product arrives very quickly. The packaging looks like you are receiving a map straight out of National Treasure. The packaging was easy to open and can be reused. The matt feels nice and no need for a mouse pad. It flattens down pretty quickly. It’s a good size, thinner than I thought, but feels smooth and very luxurious. I definitely feel more intelligent when using it.
