This LEGO Creator set comes attractively boxed as I would expect from LEGO – the colour coordination is absolutely spot on so 10 out of 10 for presentation.
Inside the box are bags of LEGO pieces and instructions, and there’s also app support for extra digital interaction. This is a 3-in-1 set so contains enough pieces to make three different models (a parrot, fish and frog) though unfortunately not at the same time. Given the tropical animal theme, there are lots of brightly coloured pieces in this set. The parrot is clearly the main attraction, with the fish and the frog being simpler builds. It is worth noting that the different models do not use all the same pieces, so you need to keep the unused pieces somewhere safe.
There are sufficient moveable parts to keep the models interesting. The parrot can be rotated and the tail and wings can be adjusted. The fish can be angled up or down and the fins can be adjusted. The frog is the least intricate of the three and that just has poseable legs.
I got this for my niece, who is 6 so she had some ‘help’ from her mother putting the models together. To me it seemed to me like the mother was far more interested than her daughter, who generally prefers LEGO Friends. To be fair to her, the set does seem designed more for adult display purposes than for children to play with because the animals are mounted on stands and their poseability serves that purpose more than any other.
In any case, this is a great quality LEGO set that will appeal to adult LEGO fans as well as children.

The Lego Creator Exotic parrot is a small 253-piece 7+ Lego set that lets you build a vibrant parrot on its perch. It’s a build a display rather than play with set the feet attach to the branch; and you will want to display it on an angle as head on the small head looks strange. From the side it looks great; albeit its quite small – the face is two blocks wide. Thanks to some technic pieces you can adjust the wings, tail and claws.
As a display piece the perch is nice with flowers and leaves to add some decoration. It is a little wobbly.
If the Macaw isn’t for you there are alternative builds for a fish and frog; I’m certainly going to try the fish out next.
For the price you get a nice-looking figure; there are quite a few technics style cross pin pieces in the build which is likely why its 7+. It’s something for display does not play so consider that. I would quite like a version that is 2x the size the bright colours do look good; there are lots of bright coloured bricks in the set if you are thinking of future play.
