I’ve been a Kindle unlimited member for a year and a bit now. I was on the fence about a Kindle ereader and didn’t get the big hype.
I caved and said if hubby wanted to get me a gift for mothers day, I wanted this Kindle.
Omg, no regrets. It is SO much better then reading from a phone or tablet. Less glare, distractions, eye friendly and great overall. Able to get on goodreads, Amazon and Kindle store.
I love it so bad and paired it with the dark cork cover. Adore it!!

My kindle has almost become my adult blanky. It is portable, easy to use and can be read anywhere and at any time. In the unfortunate event that I had a small issue, amazon support where there to help and got it sorted straight away for me. I love mine so much that I bought one for my mother for her Christmas present.

I’m obsessed. I’ve never owned and e-reader, but this is amazing. Perfect size to take anywhere, so many options on what you can do with it, screen brightness, text font and size etc. The battery life is sooooo amazing too, lasts so long!!!

Let me start by saying I’ve been an avid reader of ebooks for over 20 years now and I am in the process of migrating from using the Kindle App on an iPad to the Kindle Paperwhite (I generally have to recharge the iPad at least once per day – I do a LOT of reading and that has become an inconvenience, the battery capacity if probably dropping).
I’ve had the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (32G) for almost 2 weeks now and given how long Kindles have been available, I am very disappointed with it and the user interface. It has locked up 4 times now (it is easy to reset, so mainly an inconvenience, but still surprising). Sometimes whilst reading, if I touch the bottom right side of the screen (somehow), the book “bounces” forward some unknown number of pages and I have to go back one page at a time to find where I was – and sometimes it doesn’t do that cleanly, I sometimes see the same page multiple times as I attempt to locate where I was – this can be very confusing, I’m glad my wife doesn’t have one, being a non-technical person she would be lost – I certainly won’t recommend she get one, I’ll ensure she sticks with her iPad.
The Kindle App on an iPad is a much better user experience – I’ve never had the pages bounce forward like that (the page turning is far more reliable and “solid”). I have experienced some small lock-ups with the Kindle App on the iPad, but given it is not an Amazon hardware platform, I was not surprised or upset, plus it happened LESS often than the lock-ups on the Paperwhite!
I’ve recently had my cataracts done, which mucks up your short sight. I cannot read the Paperwhite screen unless I make the font very large (about size 8 on the Paperwhite) or wear reading glasses (+2 – +3) – the latter is not viable if you are trying to read while lying on your side in bed. Whereas with the iPad I could read the text (same size font as on the Paperwhite – about size 4) without the reading glasses. The iPad seemed to offer much higher contrast than the Paperwhite – I usually use a black background with white lettering on the iPad, but that scheme doesn’t work for me with the Paperwhite.
The only advantage the Paperwhite has (and will be the ONLY reason for me not going back to the iPad) is the battery life and that is mainly relevant because I want to be able to read on vacation (when getting access to a power point is not that easy). Otherwise, I would most likely request a refund and stick with the iPad (even if I have to have the battery replaced due to losing capacity).
So if battery life is not the driving factor in your choice, I would recommend you stay with the Kindle App on either your Apple or Android device.

This is my 6th Kindle. So let’s get that out of the way, I like them. A lot. Before this, there was a Paperwhite 3, two Paperwhite 6th Gens, a Kindle Touch, and a Kindle 3rd Gen with keyboard. And all but one are still going, performing well, with only one battery replacement and one screen replacement amongst them.
But THIS. I feel disloyal posting this, but it honestly wasn’t all it was made to sound.
For starters, the “no bezel” is a lie, there IS a bezel, and even though its only a half a millimeter instead of 2mm, its there. Its closer to the edge, but it just seems like they’ve just made the screen bigger, painted black on part of the screen, and said “Yeah look no bezel”. Can you turn pages by touching that black-but-definitely-not-part-of-the-screen bit? Yes. So is it part of the screen then?
As for the touching, something went wrong there. Almost 50% of the time, I touch to turn a page and the Kindle turns TWO pages, and I have to go back one. VERY over-sensitive, and remember, this isn’t someone new to Kindles touching it wrongly.
The QI charging makes the back of the device very hot. Worryingly hot.
As for the screen comfort settings, they seem a total waste of time. All it does is make your screen more yellow, and who wants a yellow screen? Mine has been on 0 since I tried it out.
The interface has been changed in subtle ways too, but I’m used to the old interface. The List view now shows a graphic of each book, and damned if I can find anywhere to turn it off and go back to a compact, text-only list.
And as for feeling ripped off? What can I say except I bought a Kindle Signature Edition in NOV 2022 and its Device Info tells me its a 2021 model.
Overall, I’m happy with it. Of course I’m happy with it! Kindles are probably the most significant technological change to society since the invention of the ipod, and before that, computers themselves. But.
