I was really hesitant to buy a kindle because I was always such a physical-book girl. But after getting it it’s absolutely changed my life. I highly recommend it! It makes all the intimidatingly long books so easy to read

Straight forward to use, loads up easily, battery lasts a fair while, nothing to complain about, much easier to hold I find in a case with a strap, but device itself is great, very useful for reading out of print books.

I have had the kindle for a few days now and I love it!

I tried making the switch to eReading a few years ago when the Kobo first came out but I hated it. So I sold the Kobo and went back to physical books (surprised I didn’t break my back carrying IT by Stephen King in my backpack for all those months).

When I saw that the Kindle was discounted on prime day, I thought I would give eReading another chance. Sooooooooo glad I did. I always thought I hated eReading but it turns out that the problem was the device I was using. The old Kobo was slow, had an ugly rubber button that was tough to press and the book selection in the Kobo store was very limited. Some of the books I purchased were corrupted so pages were either missing or half pages were shown on the screen. And Kobo customer service was the worst. They just didn’t care that the eBooks they were selling were corrupted so they never responded to any of my emails for help. I’ve heard customer service is still just as bad.

The Kindle is quite fast, the touch screen is very responsive, the book selection in the store is excellent and the built in light perfect for late night reading in bed. I can’t fault it.

But if you do choose to go with a Kindle, there a two things I should note. First is battery. The battery life is great so far but when you get the Kindle out of the box to set up/charge, you may not be able to charge it to 100%. Mine charged to 97% and wouldn’t move beyond that. After a few minutes on google, I learnt that page refresh is a battery drainer so leave this setting off (ghosting is not a huge issue but you can manually refresh if it starts to annoy you). And keep your Kindle on aeroplane mode when you’re not on the store to browse or buy books. Leaving the wifi running will impact the battery performance.

The second thing to consider is storage space. With the standard paperwhite, you don’t really get 8gb. You actually lose a bit of space due to the software (it’s exactly 6.24gb free for storage). If you’re a casual reader like me, it shouldn’t be a massive problem. But if you are a heavy reader or have a big library, invest in the signature edition with the 32gb.

Overall, I love the device and highly recommend 🙂

This is my 5th kindle. My first 2 got stolen in a burglary. (Thank heavens for Amazon’s great system of reporting as they were then rendered useless to the thieves. ) have 2 of my current kindles synced so can carry one with me wherever I go. Keep the paperwhite for bedtime reading so I can just close and go to sleep without having to disturb myself turning off lights etc.

I use this every day, morning day and night. It’s the perfect size and I love the paper white tone, along with the ability to add some amber in the colour. Fantastic for night reading to give your eyes a break from blue light. I’m fine with the brightness down on just 1 or 2. More than enough in most low lit rooms. My eyes aren’t great but I read easily. The font size is easily changed too. I lost my last Kindle, leaving it behind in the seat pocket of my flight, so I’m glad about this upgrade. But all models are awesome. And by the way, whoever picked up my last Kindle from that Hawaii Airlines flight – you’re welcome.
