This is an amazing piece of kit with a huge amount of potential, but one has to be careful with respect to whether or not it is suitable for your specific case use.
I was looking to experiment with its potential for productivity gains within an office/business environment. Sadly, for this particular case use the software that drives this device is lacking.
I have been in contact with Technical Support, and my interactions with them have been extremely positive with respect to them being open and honest with where they are, where they intend to be in the future, and took my criticisms and observations as helpful insights for potential future development.
I can really see for video editing and other creative tasks, this product or others in this range, would be amazing.

What a fantastic device. I was using the mobile version to test the functionality, but that’s inconvenient as I need to use my devices for other things.
Purchased this as I spend a lot of time in Teams calls and I also listen to music throughout the day, and I use AirPods for teams, but speakers for music. With some clever software and this device I can now quickly mute my speakers/pause the music and jump on a call. I also have it set for 1 button actions to share, mute and stop/start video, bring up the audio recording software and record the teams call if needed. All very easy.
Naturally it plays well with the Elgato Key lights which I also love and want another..

came perfectly as what i asked for and arrived 2 weeks early. was super easy to set up but the usb c port out the back of was a little difficult to plug in, overall it was really nice 🙂

I use it for running online meetings during the work hours and then for managing discord and volume levels while gaming out of hours. Works better than I expected. Having a one-button join for Teams meetings is brilliant, no more alt-tabbing to find it.

Easy to use, tons of uses. Btw, the MK2 doesn’t require a battery and the USB cable is detachable. The previous 15 button is cheaper but I think this is much better.

Got this for my geeky son for his birhtday – he loves it and made a macro for each button already. It even lets you put your own picture on each macro. Wish i was young again…

Great macro functionality, great integrations, and a must for anyone serious about content creation.
New update also supports the latest version of OBS, although don’t quote me on the plugins.
Even got it to work on teams calls (camera/mic on/off, share screen, hangup etc).
Plus you can now put it in portrait mode, not that I’ve yet found a use for it.
Can also setup webhooks etc to work with IoT devices through things like IFTTT.

I’ve had this device for less than a week but I’m using it for gaming and photo editing.
It adds a great level of immersion to Euro Truck Simulator 2 (someone has created custom icons for it too if you Google it), efficiency to Defense Grid 2 (I created icons including the tower and the prices, as well as uprades etc.) and I made a quick and dirty setup for Paint.Net, which made the icon creation much faster.
In addition to this I’m using it for:
– Philips Hue lighting in the room it’s in
– Spotify control on my computer and an Echo device
– Train Sim World 2 (this was free and seemed like a good test)
– Starting a Linux VM in VMware Workstation (there are further control I could add to this)
– Starting specific applications
I can definitely see me using this on more games, especially simulators and strategy games, possibly binding scripts for easier automation and finding efficiencies for repetitive tasks in different apps.
There are a fair few plugins, but these are mainly geared towards streamers (no surprise there) but there are a few for graphics related apps too. The hotkey, hotkey switch, multi action and multi action switch really make up for this. I’ve not pushed these too far but they seem great so far e.g. in ETS2 I press a key to turn on the ignition, delay for a second and then starts the engine, if I press the button a second time it turns the engine off, the two states have different icons.
You can even use animated gifs for the icons, although I’ve read that the overuse of these can cause performance issues (unsure if that’s the case on the MK2). It’s perfect for a hazard light indicator in ETS2 though!
If I had to add one criticism, it’s that it could do with a bit more anti-slip by either being grippier or heavier, it’s not terrible on that front and I could probably find a solution myself but worth mentioning for a fair review.
The 15 seems to be a perfect size, the XL is tempting but at that point it almost a keyboard from a finding-the-right-key perspective, though not having used to XL you can take my opinion with a pinch of salt and it’ll really depend on how you want to use it. As well as having profiles (that auto-switches when an exe is running and selected) each icon can be a folder which can contain other folders, I’m not sure if there are depth limits.
All-in-all this piece of kit is so customisable that it’d be difficult not to find a use for it if you are a regular computer user. Highly recommend!

Ich habe lange mit mir gerungen, ob ich als Nicht-Streamer so ein “Stream Deck” wirklich brauche, habe dann aber beim Mk.2-Modell nun doch zugeschlagen, als der Preis gerade etwas niedriger war. Und ich muss sagen, das sich den Kauf absolut nicht bereue. Wirklich ein geniales Stück Technik, das Elgato da entwickelt hat!
Das Funktionsprinzip ist ja an und für sich sehr simpel. Im Grunde hat man (bei dem mittleren Modell) 15 Makro-Keys, die man mittels der kostenlos verfügbaren Software beliebig mit Funktionen belegen und optisch den eigenen Vorstellungen und Bedürfnissen anpassen kann.
Die Erstinbetriebnahme gestaltete sich bei mir anfänglich etwas mühsam. Die Software ist meiner Ansicht nach (noch) nicht 100%ig logisch aufgebaut, und es gibt daher schon eine gewisse Lernkurve, bis man den Dreh raus hat. Z. B. habe ich eine ganze Weile gebraucht, bis ich herausgefunden hatte, wie man einmal installierte Plugins (gerade am Anfang probiert man ja vieles erst mal aus) wieder “loswerde”. 😉 Dazu muss man nämlich (leider wenig intuitiv) wieder zurück in den “App Store” wechseln, dort zu dem entsprechenden Plugin navigieren, wo man dann den “Deinstallieren”-Button findet. Wer hat sich DAS denn bitte ausgedacht?! ;P Aber gut… Einmal gelernt, ist es nur noch eine kleine Hürde.
Die neue Bauform des Mk.2-Modells finde sehr gelungen. Die Halterung ist gegenüber dem Vorgänger (den ich bereits beruflich einsetze) deutlich stabiler, und das mitgelieferte USB-Kabel (mit USB-C-Anschluss am Gerät) ist nun abziehbar/austauschbar, was beim Vorgänger häufig (zurecht) bemängelt wurde. Dadurch kann man z. B. auch ein deutlich längeres Kabel anschließen, um die “Reichweite” des Geräts zu erhöhen, was wirklich super ist! Das Bedienteil selbst lässt sich aber nach wie vor aus der Halterung herausnehmen und flach auf den Tisch legen. Ich finde den Winkel mit montierter Halterung aber eigentlich perfekt. Außerdem lässt sich beim neuen Modell auch die Frontblende (Elgato nennt sie “Faceplate”) austauschen und “customizen”. Und es gibt nun auch eine White Edition, was den einen oder die andere sicherlich ebenfalls sehr freuen wird. Ich habe mich aber für klassisches und elegantes Schwarz entschieden. 😉
Beim eigentlichen Einsatzbereich sind der Phantasie kaum Grenzen gesetzt. Und da man die Schaltflächen ja mit allen möglichen Tastenkombinationen (und sogar mit Abfolgen mehrerer Befehle!) belegen kann, ist das Gerät praktisch in jeder Mac- oder PC-Anwendung sinnvoll nutzbar. So kann man sich z. B. “versteckte” Menübefehle bzw. solche mit “hochkomplexen” und damit schwer zu merkenden Tastenkombinationen (“Strg-Alt-Umschalt-schießmichtot”;) bequem auf eine Taste legen. Allein dafür LIEBE ich dieses Gerät heiß und innig!
Was ich anfangs auch nicht wusste (was aber ebenfalls genial ist): Man kann auch Ordner innerhalb von Ordnern erstellen (Achtung: Inception-Gefahr!;), und so auch innerhalb einer Anwendung z. B. verschiedene Funktionsbereiche sauber voneinander trennen. Und durch das Anlegen von “Profilen” schaltet das Stream Deck sogar automatisch in den passenden Modus, sobald man das zugehörige Programm startet bzw. dorthin wechselt. Dabei bekommt es das Stream Deck zuverlässig mit, wenn man zwischen den verschiedenen Anwendungen hin und her wechselt und aktiviert jeweils das dazu passende Profil oder, wenn kein anwendungsspezifisches Profil existiert, das Standardprofil. Wirklich SEHR SEHR cool!
Für alle, die sich (wie ich auch;) fragen, ob ihnen das Modell mit den 15 Tasten ausreicht oder sie doch die knapp 100 Euro mehr für den “großen Bruder” investieren sollen: Durch die Möglichkeit, pro Profil mehrere Seiten (bis zu 10, was schon extrem üppig ist) und pro Seite bis zu 15 Ordner anzulegen (bei den Unterordnern muss man natürlich jeweils eine Taste abziehen, um wieder eine Ebene höher springen zu können – und wenn man mehrere Seiten verwendet, gehen auch ein bis zwei Tasten für die Navigation “verloren”), komme ich persönlich mit dem 15-Tasten-Modell bisher gut aus. Ich denke, das große Modell richtet sich doch eher an professionelle Anwender/Anwendungsbereiche, für die es wichtig ist, sehr viele Funktionen auf einmal im Blick und im Zugriff zu haben. Z. B. kann man ja durch den zusätzlichen Einsatz der (kostenlos erhältlichen) “Companion App” von Bitfocus z. B. Video- oder Audio-Mischpulte “fernsteuern”. Da können die zusätzlichen Tasten dann schon sehr hilfreich sein.
Ich möchte das Gerät jedenfalls schon nach wenigen Tagen der Benutzung nicht mehr auf meinem Schreibtisch missen! Man gewöhnt sich wirklich erschreckend schnell an den zusätzlichen Komfort. 😉 Ist es “Must-have”? Sicherlich nicht. Ist es mehr als nur ein Gimmick? Auf jeden Fall!
