Looks nice, sound is quite good. The clock is why I upgraded from the little puk type. Clock has a nice level of brightness so it does not bother you, but can still be seen at night.

Love the functionality. Love how Alexa understands me. Has helpful information, just ask! I love the colour, the clock is a winner for me as it isn’t very bright and perfect as my bedside unit. It has volume buttons, microphone on/off button and goes into sleep mode when not in use, switching off the microphone for privacy. Only wakes when called upon. I mainly use my echo for music and I like the sound coming from it. Worth every cent. I will be buying more Gen5 units in the future.

So happy with this. Ask Alexa to play whatever we want to listen to, check the weather anywhere. amazing. Great buy.

Amazing for such a small device.
It mostly has been easy to use apart from connecting Alexa enabled products, which has been quite tricky so far.
The sound is clear with a stereo sound and can go surprisingly loud.
Alexa so far has understood everything I have said, but can get some radio stations mixed up.
My smart light bulbs remain unresponsive, but this maybe the fault of the brand of light bulbs. I haven’t been able to get any help from Alexa to why they are unresponsive or how to fix the problem.
The quizzes and trivia games are very entertaining.
Alexa gets the temperature wrong for my area as she gives melbourne airport temperature instead which is 40mins away from me and much different in temperature, weather and location to where I am! Alexa needs to also use other weather info such as various pws locations from weather underground and not just BOM alone.
Amazing Alexa can hear me even over my dog barking or parrot squawking.
I like how Alexa knows some Australian slang words and phrases.
Her music quizzes do need to be more tailored for Australia as nany American songs were not released here.
It’s still early days for me with echo dot and Alexa. So far I like what I’ve seen, but there are a couple issues to iron out and improve.
Hopefully more brands with Bluetooth devices start making apps for Alexa connectability.
It’s a shame users can’t decide what replacement name to give Alexa apart from the couple of replacement names available that have been decided on by the makers of Alexa.
The shape of dot may be a problem as when I got it out of the box it attracted the attention of my German Shepherd who has been keenly eyeing it off ever since and he seems to think it’s a ball.
Fingers crossed it stays out of his reach!

My first experience with a smart home device. Some functions are great, but others very annoying and difficult to achieve the results sought for. Some so tedious I have given up on them. For example asking for a specific favourite radio station results in a list of options, sometimes not containing the one sought for. Multiple tries required to play a much visited favourite radio station is frustrating. Alexa unable, in this case, to learn from previous searches. Similarly the effort demanded to add another user in the “learn my voice” sequence is just not worth the bother. For goodness sakes why can’t they make these routine functions simple.

Got this for our daughters room, easy to use, bright enough to see what is happening without impacting sleep. In room temperature sensor was a great bonus find. Definitely recommend it for anyone who already has an Alexa enabled home
