It’s like a night light for me and the pulsing light isn’t that noticeable to be in sync with my breathing. I wish the lighting is more adjustable so that it is more directly above my head and not in the way of objects like my lamp. Overall the light keeps my eyes more relaxed to fall asleep more easily so long as I don’t stare directly at the source.

I bought this as a present for my Dad in his 60’s,
who has been a shiftworker his entire life and struggles with his sleep.
He was very pleased, being able to use his Dodow in the middle of the night when he struggles most, getting back to sleep..
I have been encouraging him to try meditation, essential oils, and and a range of other remedies for sleep. Dodow has made it very simple to get my Dad to experience all the benefits with a simple machine.
While it has not ‘cured’ his sleep deprivation, I am very happy he is getting sleep back he would normally miss out on.
Very affordable and worth a try!

The unit itself is promising and of good design, and surely deservers 5 stars, but not for me 🙁
Only reason I give it 3 stars is cause it did not work with assisting my child falling asleep.

I have bad arthritis and have trouble sleeping I got the dodow and trued it out and I have had been sleeping like a baby since I purchased it

Flimsy and the light isn’t clear at all. No instructions in English athoiugh every other language is available in the box, seems deliberate. Very underwhelmed. The light only shines directly upwards., it’s very bright and blinding yet on the ceiling it’s not clear at all. Was looking forward to having help from this but not impressed at all.

I bought this for my wife without her knowledge, a risky purchase but having read the reviews and understanding the theory behind its method I went ahead. My wife often has difficulty in getting to sleep due to intrusive thoughts and will often wake up in the night and be unable to sleep again for some time. She a starting to get into mindfulness as a means of controlling this and the Dodow fits in well with this approach. The simplicity of its use made it easy for her to get on with but it took several days to engage with the principle and respond. Now she uses it effectively when waking in the night but prefers to try and get to sleep when she goes to bed by her normal methods. I thought at first that she was not getting on with the unit but once familiar with its action she has spoken with other people about its benefits. Do follow the instructions from the makers and don’t try to rush it’s effects or force yourself to get into it. That is contradictory and my wife had to allow it to work for her. Aesthetically the unit is unobtrusive and simple in design. Also, when my wife uses it, it doesn’t bother me in my sleep. Final plus point is that if you really don’t like it or can’t get any benefit then you can send it back.

Take your time and get to know the intricacies of Dodow. There’s more to it than meets the eye. Some patterns work better than others for me but has now become a feature when I’m having a restless night. There are lots of moving parts in a sleepless night as we all know. Dodow never claims to be the panacea and it’s not… but it does help.
Well made, stylish and well packaged. Most of all easy to use….. take your time with it. It’s taken you years to have restless nights, I recommend you take a week or two to find the best position of Dodow and programme for you. It will be worth it.

This product needs you to look at the light dimming etc to adjust your breathing. Tried this but does not help improve my sleep at all.

Beware this product, the claims it makes are at best misleading, at worst completely inaccurate. It describes its function as projecting a clear blue beam of light onto the ceiling, but this is not the case. There is no focused spot of light at all, just an ambient bluish light that brightens and dims cyclically – it’s like having an ambulance stopped in the street outside your bedroom window, quite annoying, and nothing remotely like the way it’s described in the accompanying leaflet or the website publicity. What’s more, if you try to call them out on this, the customer service dept resorts to condensing insults, suggesting you may not be smart enough to use their product. Do not buy if you are expecting it to be remotely the way they claim it to be.

I have only tried to use it a couple of times, and as the instructions say, it does take a while to adjust to it, which hasn’t happened for me yet. I have found in the full dark of night, it was way to bright even on it’s darkest setting, and brightness may have woken me up more. Brightness setting is not intuitive and I needed to check the manual (also in the middle of the night – woke me up more!). I would prefer that it had separate intuitive brightness adjustment that was infinite. Build quality is good. Hope there is a new version that deals with some of the flaws.

I had high hopes but was ultimately underwhelmed with this device. I used it for 2 weeks to try to give it a proper go, but it wasn’t very helpful for me. The information suggests it is a very clear, easy to see disc of blue light that expands & contracts – allowing you to easily focus on it & do breathing exercises. In reality it is a very soft, blurry blob of light that is hard to decipher & isn’t very effective. Especially if you have cornice on your ceiling or don’t have a table in the middle of your bedroom (who does?) to put it on that helps it project into the middle of the ceiling. I positioned it on my bedside table, which meant it projected to a spot that was a bit awkward for my eyes to focus on. I also tried moving it around the room, but it remained a very soft blurry spot as opposed to a clear one. It is a decent tool to distract you and assist you to focus on deep breathing, but it isn’t much more than that. If you are already well versed in deep breathing exercises or meditation, this probably won’t be of much help. If you’re new to deep breathing techniques and are ok with concentrating on the blurry light it should be ok.

The Dodow is an excellent tool to aid falling asleep. I have tried meditation and relaxation techniques, but am easily distracted by those pesky little thoughts that run through my head. For some reason this doesn’t happen when using the Dodow. You inhale and exhale breaths in time with the projected blue light which shrinks and enlarges. It starts off fairly rapidly and then slows down to a regular rate, and this makes you really sleepy so it’s hard to keep your eyes open! There are two settings of 8 and 20 minutes, but to be quite honest, I am always asleep before the end of the 8 minute cycle. Luckily, the blue light is not bright enough to disturb my sleeping partner if he has his eyes shut. I do find I have to angle the Dodow on a book, so that the light is projected a little in front of me on the ceiling , not straight above. I was also expecting a more circular shape to concentrate on, but it is more of an ambient blue light that changes in intensity. The product is simply and elegantly designed, and nice and compact for travelling. The only drawback is that I find it not as effective when waking in the middle of the night or early hours of the morning.
