Bought this to add Apple Carplay to my car. For the money, it’s a considerably cheaper option than replacing the car stereo. For the most part, it’s a nifty little device but it has its problems which I’ll outline below:
– Dynamic Display Brightness is annoying when driving at night, particularly on motorways with no overhead lighting. The screen will randomly change brightness based on what light it detects. However sometimes it goes so dim, you can’t actually see the display and when overtaking, it will randomly go so bright you can’t see the road ahead. You can, thankfully, turn it off and have a constant brightness but, it will completely forget what setting you used when you stop and turn it off. It doesn’t save your setting and reverts back to half brightness, which is still too bright for our dark motorways.
– Mounting Bracket is an absolute nightmare to connect to the back of the unit. If you park on the street or in a public car park like me, then you’ll probably want to disconnect the display and take it with you or hide it away so some lowlife doesn’t break into your car. Only problem is, trying to find the locating lugs on the mount is nigh on impossible and will take a good 10mins each time.
– Missing features such as being able to broadcast via Bluetooth would really improve this device. Currently, you can’t do this when using Wi-Fi to connect your phone to it and even then, Bluetooth only works for phone calls.
– Unable to find accessory parts for it. Best of luck trying to find the accessory reversing cam and/or mic anywhere. So far, the only reversing cams I can find have an incompatible connector for this unit.
Other than the above, not much else to say other than the audio is pretty good, particularly if you’re and audiophile like me and want some good quality tunes blasting out. The only thing I’ll say on that front is that you do get a doubling effect with whatever EQ you set in the phone on top of the unit’s EQ. However is easily remedied by removing the EQ setting on your phone and just using the one in the unit.

Unfortunately the night mode on Google maps through this device stopped working. It did work originally but stopped. Not sure wether it’s a software or hardware issue either way defective and not how it was originally working.

Not having apple car play in my car was a bad thing, especially when basically my whole house is Apple. This product is great, as it brings it into my car.
However, I was thinking COOL!!!! Big screen!!!! Don’t make my mistake. Buy the smaller screen. This is just way too big for the windscreen, and I drive a big 4WD.
Buy the product by all means, just make sure you get the smaller screen, as I am regretting it every day I get in the car

I have a carplay system installed in the truck, but unfortunately the angle of the screen makes it hard to see during the day due to glare and wearing sunglasses. Using the Google maps or waze with carplay this way was near on impossible.
I do a lot of day time driving requiring a GPS and this item means I can use google and waze maps and have it mounted so it faces me instead of the back window. Bluetooth Carplay works great without a cable. Mirroring also works well. Was better value for money than buying a Garmin GPS that only has one use.

I loved the functionality and the screen is clear and responsive. And big.
And for me, that’s the problem. It’s just way too big for my car. In the centre top of my dashboard it obstructs my vision. Moving it to the passenger side of the dash cures the vision obstruction problem, but it’s still just way too big for my car.
I’m going to be returning it and trying one of the smaller sizes.

I bought this instead of replacing the whole head unit in the 200 series Landcruiser and it works perfectly. Its well made and sits nicely on the extension arm.

Screen size is great.
Wireless Apple CarPlay
Cheap way to upgrade car screen.
Not much more than a manufacturer map upgrade cost, but always up to date and shows traffic conditions.

Negatives:
Inbuilt speaker & microphone are not loud enough.

Android auto doesn’t always work so I waste a lot of time connecting it over and over. Needs a lot of improvement.
