I have a lot of Philips hue products – probably all the ones that need no effort to install. These ones are the best for lamps. I like to set bedside lights to have a reddish tinge fading out in the evening and a blue light or daylight hue to fade to wake up with. I really recommend them for this, it does wonders for everyone’s circadian rhythms. You can use a couple of these just with bluetooth but for us the hub was worth it so everyone can control through switches, Alexa, Siri etc, it’d be fine if you lived alone to stick with bluetooth.
Another place I like these is in hallways, if only for super muted nightlight function like starlight – the first one I bought was for this because one of dogs got dementia and started freaking out waking in the middle of the night.
They are a bit overkill to light a whole room with and I prefer the cheaper non-colour ones for that since if you”re having a party or whatever you can just dim them out and turn on the lamps’ colours to your selected ambience.
Brilliant products and I’m sure they can’t last for ever but it sure feels like they do.

I absolutely hate them. Endless frustration if you try a Bluetooth Alexa setup of reinstalling them every time you leave the house or paying $60 more to get a dock I don’t want to use.
I’ve always shopped on the cheap end for my smart bulbs and I decided to splurge and get the Philips hue. I’ve used avatar, laser, mibella brands and they have all been considerably less annoying.
I have never hated a light bulb enough to log on to the internet to make my first ever amazon review about it so don’t buy them they suck.
